Dearest creatures of the night, loyal dance scholars, and certified groove romantics, Time does its thing, and here we are at the end of another year. These are strange and terrifying times. But we've made it through with technologies both elemental and eternal: driving drums, wailing horns, bass rattling your ribs, sweaty humans united in purpose, locked into a groove. So of course, we’re doing it again New Year’s Eve Wednesday, December 31 – Black Squirrel Club (Fishtown) 1049 Sarah St • 8:00 PM – 2:00 AM Our regular spot, with the chandelier made of a literal car. It’s been a full year of monthly dance parties here, and on New Year’s Eve we’ll bring the heavy jams, sharp turns, and tunes built for the hips and feet. At a moment when those in power are betting on fear, isolation, and silence, we’ll do something stubborn and old-fashioned: gather, make noise, and move as one until the year gives way. After midnight, DJ Thunder takes over for a karaoke after-party.🎤 Power ballads, bad decisions, folk favs, group choruses. Stay for one tune or stay till your voice gives out. This is how we mark time: show up, make sound, start again. Bring your people. Wear something you feel good sweating in. XOXO, www.westphiladelphiaorchestra.net westphillyorchestra@bandcamp.com WPO is (currently) Gregg Mervine, Chad Brown, Elliot Beck, Hayley Varhol, Larry Toft, Koofreh Umoren, Ello Shertzer, Frank Rein, Adam Hershberger, Dawn Webster, Daniel Stern, Elliott Levin, David Fishkin and Larry Goldfinger. |
